Meridian Law keeps track
of cases from entry into chambers through to closure and payment,
and facilitates effective communication throughout via e-mail
and 'to do' lists. Its sophisticated search facility means cases
can easily be located and identified. Powerful Case Action Templates
(CATs) make it possible to specify and control the automation
of a wide range of tasks and provide effective tools to enable
prompt fee collection. |
CATs
CATS enable clerks to classify cases according to type, and define
a series of actions which take place automatically. They can be
used to generate documents such as acknowledgement letters and fee
note and reminder letter runs. Structured case types facilitate
analysis and specialised case control and user-definable case movement
types are used for recording fee information, comments and fee-chasing
actions. To do lists can be private or shared within chambers, ensuring
the correct balance between valuable information exchange and privacy.
Meridian Law can automatically generate to do list reminder entries
for both barristers and clerks based on CAT criteria.
Fees
In addition to managing standard fee procedures, Meridian Law automatically
records details of cross payments, providing a clear and fully referenced
statement showing fees owed to and due from each barrister. The
system also produces various standard Legal Aid payment on account
forms and associated reports in a timely and accurate manner, and
automatically reminds clerks of missing Legal Aid references.
Conditional Fees: The system includes comprehensive handling
and reporting of cases accepted on a conditional fee basis in accordance
with Bar Council guidelines. The system can produce fully completed
CFA and PRA forms.
Graduated Fees: Both family and unified
defence and prosecution graduated fees schemes are fully and accurately
catered for including claim form production. Integration with other
applications The system allows for integrated MS Word document generation
from database information. All standard forms are generated by user-definable
Word documents, including fee notes and invoices. Documents and
multi-media objects can be attached to cases, and integration with
Zetafax permits the automatic server-based faxing of any document.
